Paul & Anne Pierron | Durham, North Carolina | Wedding

I met Anne through my sister while they were both attending Duke Nursing School. My sister sent her my way after she found out Anne was getting married this Spring, and I'm so glad she did! Meeting Anne for the first time, I was immediately drawn to her sense of humor and our shared love for our cats! I later met Paul and knew that the two of them were the perfect match! Both Anne and Paul are both so fun and laid-back, and I knew their wedding was going to be exactly that!

Anne and Paul were married at the Hope Valley Country Club overlooking the golf course and in front of all their closest friends and family. Their day was full of laughter, the most beautiful weather, crazy golf cart rides, and the sweetest moments! Anne and Paul were so much fun to work with on their special day and kept me laughing the whole day! They were all smiles when they were around each other and their chemistry was effortless. Capturing a love so sweet and natural like theirs made every moment of their wedding day a blast!

Anne and Paul, thank you again for letting my capture your beautiful wedding day! It has been so much fun getting to know the two of you, and it was so special to be a part of your big day! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Pierron!

Albert + Carrie | Chapel Hill, North Carolina | Engagement

Carrie and Albert are such a fun couple and two of the sweetest and kindest people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting! They're super adventurous and love traveling together (Albert actually proposed to Carrie while in the Alps! Talk about an unforgettable proposal!) When I was first getting to know them, I found out that Albert loves photography, so to have them choose me to capture one of the most exciting seasons of their life was such a huge honor! Their engagement session was one of the sweetest sessions I've had the pleasure of photographing and I could not get enough of just how perfect these two are together! Something just felt so effortless about the way Carrie and Albert interacted with one another, and to witness a love like theirs was truly something special.

For their engagement session, we walked around UNC's campus, talked all about their upcoming fall wedding, shared stories, and captured some seriously beautiful moments. What I loved so much about my time with Carrie and Albert was that I was able to capture some incredibly sweet and intimate moments, but I also got to see their goofy and fun side as well! Carrie has a smile that just lit up every photo, and Albert kept us laughing throughout our session! The more time I spent with these two, the more excited I got for their wedding in October! Carrie and Albert, thank you again for trusting in me to share your love story with others, and I cannot wait for your wedding in just a few months! It'll be here before you know it!

Greg + Taylor Lee | New Hill, North Carolina | Sweet and Classic Wedding

The morning of Taylor and Greg's wedding, as all the girls were gathered together and getting ready, I overheard Taylor tell the story of how she and Greg met. I had heard her tell it once before, but this time, on her wedding day, there was so much more emotion in her voice. She talked about how crazy the story of how they met was and how it was all because of God's perfect timing. Thinking about my own story of how my husband and I met, and how similar it was, I couldn't help but get a little emotional by her sweet story. Greg and Taylor are two of the sweetest people, and together, it's like there's nobody else around. I feel so lucky that I got to witness and capture one of the most important days of their life together, as they became husband and wife.

Greg and Taylor were married outside at The Bradford under clear blue skies and surrounded by all of their closest friends and family. Everything about their day was absolutely perfect, from Greg's reaction to Taylor during their first look, to all the stunning details. Because their wedding was Easter weekend, they chose to hold an Easter egg hunt for all the kids, and it was one of the cutest things ever! Their day was filled with smiles, laughter, and some of the sweetest moments!

Greg and Taylor, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day! I feel so honored to share your beautiful love story with others, and I wish you both all the best in the future! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Lee!

Joseph + Kristen | Chapel Hill, North Carolina | Spring Garden Engagement

When Joseph and Kristen first reached out to me about photographing their wedding this May, I could not have been more thrilled! Meeting them for the first time, I was immediately drawn to their sweet and laid back personalities, and I knew I was going to love working with them as their wedding photographer! Joseph and Kristen mentioned during our initial meeting that they were feeling a little bit nervous about having their photos taken, but let me tell you, as soon as I got them in front of my camera for their engagement session last month, they worked their magic and created some absolutely beautiful images!

For their engagement session, we wandered around Coker Arboretum on UNC's campus, and took in all of the green and beautiful blooms around us! Joseph and Kristen were so cute together and fed off of each other's energy to create some absolutely adorable moments! Joseph kept us all laughing the whole entire time and Kristen's infectious smile lit up every photo (Plus, they brought along their adorable puppy for some of the photos)! The chemistry between these two was absolutely perfect, and I'm so glad I got to capture it during their session!

Joseph and Kristen, thank you again for trusting me with capturing this amazing time in both of your lives! I cannot wait to celebrate with you both next weekend and preserve all of the wonderful memories of your wedding day!

Jimmy + Nicole Simpson | Hillsborough, North Carolina | Vibrant Wildflower Wedding

Jimmy and Nicole's wedding earlier this month was fun, vibrant, and full of the sweetest moments! Both Jimmy and Nicole have such fun-loving spirits, and their day perfectly reflected them and their personalities! I was lucky enough to be a part of their wedding day, and it was definitely the perfect way to kick off my Spring wedding season (nothing says "Spring" like rich colors and wildflowers everywhere)!

Every part of Jimmy and Nicole's wedding day was joyful from beginning to end, and it was also full of many surprises! I often get asked what my favorite part to capture on a wedding day is, and I always say the first look, whether that's a bride and groom having a private moment together before the ceremony, or as the bride is walking down the aisle towards her soon-to-be husband. That's the moment where true emotions that have been built up for so long finally spill over, and it creates some of the most beautiful and raw moments of any wedding day. And let me tell you, Jimmy's first look at Nicole was by far one of the sweetest moments I've seen as a wedding photographer! Jimmy and Nicole have such a genuine love for one another, and to capture one of the most important days of their life was such an honor!

Their day was not only filled with beautiful moments, but also some of the most beautiful details, from the wildflower alter backdrop to the lush and vibrant colors of the bouquets. I also loved that at every table, there was a different elephant figurine, since Nicole loves elephants! I love it when my couples add their own personal touches to their wedding day details!

Jimmy and Nicole, I had an absolute blast capturing your wedding day and am so thankful for you both! Thank you again for allowing me to tell your story to others, and I wish you both all the best as you continue with your marriage! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson!

Both Jimmy and Nicole work for the YMCA, so all of the bridesmaids surprised them during their toasts with a song all about their relationship to the tune of "YMCA!"

Derrick + Leah | Durham, North Carolina | Engagements

When you mix beautiful light and a beautiful couple in love, magic is bound to happen! Derrick and Leah's engagement session was such a special treat for me and I loved getting to not only capture the sweet bond that these two have with one another, but also learning more about them both in front of and behind my camera. Both Derrick and Leah have this carefree spirit about them, which I love! They weren't afraid to just let loose during their session, laugh with one another, and just be themselves.

I had just discovered Penny's Bend Nature Preserve in Durham a week prior for another engagement session, and when Leah saw it, she instantly fell in love and knew she had to have her session there too! It's always fun returning to a spot that you've previously shot at to see what new things each couple brings to their session! I loved the soft color palette of Derrick and Leah's wardrobe, and how it so perfectly complemented the scenery around them. We ventured through fields of tall grass, chased the gorgeous evening light, and finished with a slow dance to the song Derrick and Leah will be dancing to as husband and wife in just a few short months. To say the least, their session was nothing short of incredible and made this photographer's heart very happy!

Derrick and Leah, I had so much fun with you both at your session and am getting so excited for your wedding day in September! Thank you for inviting me into your story and for letting me share it with others!

Eric + Sydnee | Durham, North Carolina | Engagements

Eric and Sydnee's story started in high school, where they met and started dating in 2009, and have been high school sweethearts ever since. They actually met at a football game while Eric was out on a date with Sydnee's best friend (Don't worry, it all worked out!). Eight years later, and they're finally getting married! Right after their engagement, I met up with Sydnee to talk about her wedding photography, and she joked that she's had eight years to plan her wedding! It's rare that I meet two people who have such a strong connection with one another, but Eric and Sydnee are one of those couples. Seeing them interact during their engagement session showed me just how effortless their relationship is - every moment between them was so sweet and truly genuine!

We found the most dreamy location for their session, full of the most beautiful fields of tall grass. Sydnee has always had an interest in vintage fashion, and I loved that she incorporated that into their session (I'm still obsessing over her skirt!). I had the best time getting to know Eric and Sydnee more during their shoot, and I'm so incredibly excited to photograph their wedding in September! Eric and Sydnee, thank you for welcoming me into your story and for letting me capture and share it with others! September cannot get here soon enough!

Brad + Alison | Raleigh, North Carolina | Botanical Garden Engagement

The first time I ever met Brad and Alison, it was the most dreary and wet day in January. Thankfully, the weather cleared up for their engagement session and we were able to enjoy some gorgeous sunshine for their photos! Because they were traveling from out of state and only had one weekend to do their session, we could not have asked for more beautiful weather! Brad and Alison are so delightful to be around, and I had such a fun time getting to capture all of these sweet moments between them!

JC Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh has always been one of my favorite locations for taking photos, so I was so excited when Brad and Alison chose it as their engagement session location. Alison wore the most gorgeous sun dress (which was perfect for such a windy day!), and Brad complemented her perfectly. This session was such a treat for me because I got to witness Brad and Alison together, being themselves, and just having a fun time with one another! I love it when my couples aren't afraid to just let loose in front of my camera and really show me their true colors! Brad brought all of the laughs to our session and Alison was all smiles! Seeing them together only made me more excited for their wedding in June! Brad and Alison, I’m so thankful that we crossed paths and I cannot express how grateful I am that you have asked me to capture such a special season of both of your lives! June can’t come soon enough!

Rob + Kirsten | Chapel Hill, North Carolina | Carolina Engagement

This was such a special session for me because it was the first time I got to meet Rob and Kirsten in person! After getting engaged, Kirsten reached out to me from Florida, and I knew immediately that I was going to love working with the two of them. Kirsten is so sweet and incredibly easy to talk to, and while I didn't get to talk with Rob during our initial meeting, I could tell he was the perfect fit for Kirsten solely based on the way she spoke of him.

Rob and Kirsten decided to have their engagement session on UNC's campus in Chapel Hill, where Kirsten grew up. While the day of their session was a bit chilly, the weather could not have been more gorgeous! And you just can't beat a good Carolina sunset! The day of their session, there just so happened to be a Carolina vs. Duke game happening on campus (We North Carolinians don't mess around when it comes to college basketball), so there were people everywhere! We were dodging crowds right and left, but Rob and Kirsten remained cool the entire time and didn't let the craziness around us keep them from creating the most beautiful images! What I love so much about Rob and Kirsten's photos is that it looks like it might as well have been just the two of them! Their connection to each other in every photo is just so striking! One of my favorite moments during their entire session was when I told Rob and Kirsten to tell one another what they love about each other. As they began to whisper to each other, their faces just lit up and it was such a sweet moment to witness and capture! I overheard Kirsten tell Rob that she loves how he keeps her calm, and even in the short amount of time that I got to spend with them, I could tell this was true. They both felt so at ease with each other, and I absolutely loved that about them! It makes me so excited to get them back in front of my camera in September for their wedding!

Rob and Kirsten, I had such a wonderful time with you both this past weekend and I cannot wait to capture your special day!

Chris + Lindsey Massey | Siler City, North Carolina | Horse Farm Wedding

It's always such a treat photographing weddings for couples that I already know, and Chris and Lindsey's wedding was exactly that! While I didn't know Lindsey before their engagement, I knew Chris because he grew up with my husband and was even a groomsman at our wedding! After getting engaged, Lindsey contacted me about photographing their wedding and I could not have been more excited! I loved how laid back Chris and Lindsey were, and I knew that I was going to love getting to know them more through this experience and share their beautiful love story.

Chris and Lindsey opted for a small and simple celebration with just their closest family and a handful of their friends. Yet, the simplicity of their wedding day was what I loved so much! It can be so easy to get caught up in creating the perfect wedding day, that oftentimes couples forget the real reason of why they're celebrating in the first place. It was clear that Chris and Lindsey just wanted to be with each other on their wedding day! They were married in their church, a beautiful little chapel surrounded by fields of purple flowers, then they held their reception at Annie's Legacy Homestead, a horse farm with the most stunning views! Because Chris and Lindsey didn't have a bridal party, their wedding day allowed ample time for bride and groom portraits, which is any photographer's dream! We laughed, explored the grounds of the farm, and even had a little photoshoot with two of the most friendly horses (Fun fact: One of the farm's horses had their baby the same day as Chris and Lindsey's wedding)! It was such a wonderful and refreshing way to spend my first wedding of the new year, and I wouldn't have had it any other way! Chris and Lindsey, thank you so much for putting your trust in me with such an important day, and for allowing me to share this beautiful season of your lives with others! All my best wishes to you both!

Ricky + Claire Bortnick | Collettsville, North Carolina | Wedding

I could not think of a better way to have rung in the New Year than to have spent it with Claire and Ricky on their big day! Having grown up in the Appalachian Mountains, it was such a treat to be back and to witness and capture such a special occasion in the place that will always have my heart. Claire and Ricky are such a fun and sweet couple, and capturing the love between them was a breath of fresh air! It was such a joy spending the day with them, getting to share in their excited anticipation as their wedding drew near, and capturing their first memories as husband and wife!

Everything about Claire and Ricky's wedding day was so beautiful and meaningful, even down to the littlest details. Claire's stunning lace wedding gown was to die for, and their gold foiled wedding cake (which Claire made herself!) was probably one of my favorite details! I love when my couples put their own personal stamp on their wedding day! Claire and Ricky were married in a beautiful little chapel on a hill just as the sun was setting over the mountains. Their candlelit ceremony, with all of their closest friends and family present, was something out of a dream! The magic continued with their beautiful reception at the Brown Mountain Beach Resort, which was full of dancing, fellowship, and lots of laughter. Claire and Ricky, thank you again for trusting in me and for allowing me to be the one to capture this amazing chapter in your lives! I wish you all the best in this New Year as husband and wife, and can't wait to see where your marriage takes you! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bortnick!

James + Christy Carsner | Garner, North Carolina | Wedding

James and Christy have one of the sweetest love stories, and to be able to capture their wedding day back in December was such a treat for me! Their love story began when they met while both serving in the military. Throughout their time in Afghanistan, they wrote the sweetest love letters to each other (a letter from James to Christy was even displayed at their wedding and reading it almost brought me to tears!). While at my first meeting with Christy, as she was telling me her and James' story, she pulled out the most beautiful leather notebook of all of the notes and photos they had collected over the course of their relationship. The notebook, which I later learned was handmade in Afghanistan, had pages full of the sweetest little notes and photographs of smiling faces. I loved that Christy was willing to share this special part of their story with me, and I knew just how important it was for me to give them beautiful photos of their wedding day so they could continue sharing their love story with others!

James and Christy were married just two days before Christmas at the beautiful Rand-Bryan House in Garner, North Carolina. The day started out with a layer of clouds covering the sky, but by the time we arrived at the venue, there was the most gorgeous sunshine! Christy looked like an absolute princess in her ballgown wedding dress and I loved that James' tuxedo was hand-crafted in Afghanistan. Their day could not have been any more beautiful and I feel so honored to have been able to be a part of it. James and Christy, I wish you both all the best as you continue as husband and wife! Congratulations!

Jorge + Brittany Islas | Raleigh, North Carolina | Wedding

Looking back at Brittany and Jorge’s wedding, I immediately remember the joy that filled every moment of their day. I could say so much about these two, but the thing that sticks out the most is just how sweet and genuine they are! From my first meeting with them, I knew I was going to love working with them, and I was right! Getting to know Brittany and Jorge throughout their engagement was such a treat, and I loved having the opportunity to witness and capture their relationship during such an exciting season of their lives!

Brittany and Jorge were married at The Stockroom in the heart of downtown Raleigh, where they were surrounded by all of their closest friends and family. I loved every beautiful detail of their day, including their soft color palette (perfect for winter!) and the classic and elegant tablescapes for their reception. Brittany looked absolutely stunning in her ballgown dress and I loved that Jorge mixed it up with a white tuxedo jacket! Plus, any wedding where the groom and groomsmen wear fun socks is a win in my book! It was evident that Brittany and Jorge's family and friends meant the world to them, and that they were so loved in return. Seeing Brittany's mom tear up just moments after Brittany put on her wedding dress and capturing the sweet thank-you speech Jorge made to all his family really was so special. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter couple to ask me to capture their big day, and I'm truly grateful for the chance to capture theirs! Brittany and Jorge, I wish you all the best as you continue as husband and wife!

Luke + Emily Kramer | Raleigh, North Carolina | Wedding

Luke and Emily were one of the most fun couples I've had the pleasure of working with as a wedding photographer! Their wedding day was full of so much laughter and I'm pretty sure I've never seen a bride and groom smile just as much or as big as they did on their special day. Emily and Luke were also so incredibly laid back, which I loved about them! I remember calling Emily the week before her wedding to go over all of the last minute details. I thanked her for taking some time our of her busy schedule to chat with me since I know how insane the week before a wedding can be, and she told me she already had everything done and was just sitting around at home in her pjs (Guys, I am so embarrassed to admit that I was up until 1:00am the night before my wedding cutting flowers out of my backyard in the dark and making the centerpieces for our tables. I do not suggest doing this, HA!)! The morning of their wedding was super relaxed and fun, and the rest of their day was no different!

Luke and Emily were married in front of all of their friends and family at St. Michael The Archangel church in Cary, then they threw the most stunning reception at the always gorgeous Merrimon-Wynne House in downtown Raleigh. I loved all of the thought they put into every little detail of their day, and it all came together so beautifully! Not to mention, Emily made one gorgeous bride (can we talk about her dress for a second?) and Luke made one handsome groom! Emily and Luke, thank you so much for letting me capture and share your love story with others! Here's to a lifetime of love and happiness! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kramer!

Chris + Lindsey | Apex, North Carolina | Engagements

Chris grew up with my husband and was even a groomsman in our own wedding, so when his fiancé, Lindsey, contacted me about photographing their wedding early next year, I was beyond excited! Both Chris and Lindsey are such wonderful people, and I loved getting to hang out with them both during their engagement session this past weekend and getting to know them more. There's just something so quiet and sweet about their love, and it was such a treat getting to capture that on camera. Plus, I got to meet their precious puppy, so that was just an added bonus!

When I was brainstorming with Chris and Lindsey about where to take their engagement photos, we decided on a Christmas tree farm because their session was going to be so close to Christmas, and I had never done a session at a tree farm so I was totally on board! Little did I know that this hidden gem was just down the road from my house! Jordan Lake Christmas Tree Farm made for the perfect wintery backdrop for their session, and I just could not get enough of how incredible Chris and Lindsey looked amongst all those beautiful shades of green. The day of their session was calling for cold temperatures and rain, so we contemplated rescheduling. But because of both of their crazy work schedules, Chris and Lindsey decided to just stick it out, and I'm so glad we did! The day started off cloudy, with a thin layer of mist in the air. Then, right in the middle of shooting, the clouds completely disappeared leaving nothing but sunshine and blue skies!

Chris and Lindsey, thank you again for letting me capture this very special time in your lives! I cannot wait to be a part of your big day in just two months!

Jordan & Kayla Oldenkamp | Greensboro, North Carolina | Wedding

I met Jordan and Kayla through one of my friends from college who also happens to be a very talented wedding photographer! Because she was going to be in the wedding party, she sent Jordan and Kayla my way and I'm so glad she did! They are two of the sweetest people and I have absolutely loved getting to work with them and get to know them more! They both love to laugh (I don't think I've laughed so much at a wedding!) and just have a great time with each other and their friends. It was obvious that their families and friends meant a lot to Jordan and Kayla and that they were, in turn, incredibly loved and supported by those around them! Their wedding was certainly a day to remember, and I'm so glad to have been the one to capture it!

Jordan and Kayla were married in Greensboro at the beautiful Revolution Mills Events Center in the heart of downtown. Everything about their day was so beautiful, from Kayla's stunning two-piece wedding dress to the words she and Jordan exchanged during their vows to one another. Kayla made one of the most beautiful brides and Jordan was one handsome groom! I could not get enough of their sweet love and all of the beautiful moments captured through my lens!

Jordan and Kayla, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of one of the most important days of your lives and for trusting in me to capture your love story. It has been such an honor working with you, and I wish you all the best in the future!

Dustin Gardner & Lindsay Holland | Chapel Hill, North Carolina | Engagements

Lindsay and Dustin both live and work in Pittsburgh, but they made their way down to North Carolina, where Lindsay is originally from, for their engagement session. Because of the distance, they were unsure if they would be able to take engagement photos, but when I heard they were making the trip here, I was so excited for the opportunity to get them in front of my camera (in my own backyard!) before their wedding next year!

I have known Lindsay for many years, as our moms used to work together at our childhood school, but it was such a pleasure finally getting to meet Dustin, whom I had heard so much about from Lindsay over the phone. Before their session, the three of us all sat down together, got to know each other more, and I got to hear more about their plans for what I can only imagine will be a beautiful June wedding! Dustin and Lindsay are such sweet people, and together, they make the perfect couple! They're kind, goofy, and so in love. As we were talking, Dustin mentioned to me how important it was to him to capture their true personalities, so I was sure to capture both the sweet and silly side of their relationship. I loved getting to follow them around in my backyard, laughing along with them, and capturing their beautiful love story! Dustin and Lindsay, thank you again for making me a part of such an exciting time in your lives. I cannot wait until your wedding next summer!

Ryan Winstead & Colleen Mathias | Durham, North Carolina | Engagements

One of the greatest honors you can be granted as a wedding photographer is having another wedding photographer ask you to take their photos. So when Colleen approached me about taking her engagement photos, I was beyond thrilled! Colleen and I met back in college (she was actually the one who taught me the basics of studio photography when she was my assigned studio technician my junior year), and she has become one of my dearest friends ever since! Many of you might even recognize her as my second photographer for most of my weddings! She is one of the sweetest and silliest people you will ever meet, and Ryan is kind and cares so deeply for Colleen. I have loved getting to watch them together and am so excited to stand alongside them as they promise their lives to each other next April!

Colleen knows I'm not a morning person (even with copious amounts of coffee in my system), but she somehow convinced me to wake up before the sun and do a sunrise engagement session at the beautiful Eno River State Park in Durham. I must say now, having done my first sunrise session, I am a fan! The mist over the river and the glow of the leaves as the sun rose was enough to convince me to do sunrise engagement sessions all of the time! I had a blast with Colleen and Ryan, and loved capturing their sweet love on camera. I cannot wait until their wedding next year!

Mason & Amanda Jones | Raleigh, North Carolina | Wedding

Meeting Amanda and Mason for the first time was like reconnecting with two old friends. Both of them went to Appalachian State (which also happens to be my alma mater!), so we instantly hit it off and found out we had a lot more in common than we thought! What I love so much about Amanda and Mason is their kindness and willingness to just let loose and have fun, not only with each other, but with everyone around them. Their engagement session back in April was such a blast, so I knew that their wedding day was going to be no different, and I was right! Amanda and Mason kept me laughing and smiling the whole entire day!

One thing that Amanda really wanted for her wedding day was a good timeline to get the best photos possible (every photographer's dream, right?). So one night we hunkered down in a coffee shop and worked out a plan for their big day, and man, was it worth it! Everything came together so beautifully and I loved ending the evening with the most stunning bride and groom portraits! Amanda and Mason were married at the Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh, then celebrated with all of their friends and family at the North Carolina State University Club.

Jimmy Wood & Kandyce Jones | Bynum, North Carolina | Engagements

You know it's a great and successful engagement session when you finish with sand in your shoes and a smile on your face. Jimmy and Kandyce are two of the sweetest and nicest people you'll ever meet, and I have loved getting to know them more over the past few months! For their engagement session, they took me all around their neighborhood and showed me all of the places they like to go together and that have played a significant role in their love story over the years. We explored the sandy banks of the Haw River, climbed the tree where they sit on Sunday evenings, and visited the little general store where they go to listen to live music. They even brought along their three fur babies for their session (Be still, my heart!)! It was so special being able to come along with them, listen to their stories, and capture these moments for them.

Jimmy and Kandyce, thank you again for letting me capture this special chapter of your lives! Remember to cling to these days before your wedding and enjoy the excitement and anticipation as you wait for your big day! So excited for next September!
